Another Christian To Do List

to do list 2.jpg

More things for Christians to do from Paul's letter to the Ephesians...

Paul the apostle continues to list things that believers should do. Christians are to live, Christians are to "walk", in a way that is distinctive.

Time is the first thing on the to do list. Christians are to make the best use of their time, Ephesians 5:16.

John Flavel wrote that "...the wisdom of a Christian is eminently discovered in saving and improving all opportunities in this world, for that world which is to come. God hangs the great things of eternity upon the small wires of times and seasons in this world."

How can Christians make the most of their time?

By working away at our to do list! Paul continues to add to the list...

"...be filled with the Spirit". Ephesians 5:18

Address one another in "psalms and hymns and spiritual songs". Ephesians 5:19

Give thanks always and for everything to God the Father. Ephesians 5:20

Submit to one another out of reverence for Christ. Ephesians 5:21

What does it mean to keep the command, "...be filled with the Spirit"?

It means to do the work that has been given to us. As we do all the things on the to do list of the Christian life... God the Holy Spirit will fill us. God will make his presence with us wholesome.

To waste time, to get drunk, to be unwise, to avoid Christian fellowship, to avoid singing in Christian praise... that way of life is to avoid being filled with the Spirit. Those who live this way will show themselves to be less than Christian.

But the opposite is true. The Christian believer who works at their to do list will grow in fullness.
